OUTCOMES OF OFFICE OF TREATY                      SETTLEMENTS HUI (OTS) 7 JULY

The Ngāi Te Rangi treaty team met with the Office of Treaty Settlements (OTS) in Wellington on the 7th of July to reiterate our position - that all redress in Tauranga Moana offered to the Hauraki Collective be removed prior to the signing of the Collective's deed and allow for a tikanga process to resolve the issues. The outcomes of the OTS meeting are recorded in the letter below.

               OTS RESPONSE 14 JULY

As stated in the letter, Ngāi Te Rangi anticipated the Minister’s response by Friday 14 July, a response was received stating that the Minister and Paul Majurey have been advised of the Ngāi Te Rangi position and a response will be provided on Monday 17 July

Te Rangihouhiri began his journey from Whāngārā to Hakurānui to Whakapau Kōrero to Pōporohuamea where he died. Following his death and after many significant battles, his descendants who became known as Ngāi Te Rangi settled in Tauranga Moana.
