Hui a Iwi

Tēnā koutou katoa,

The Minister for Treaty of Waitangi Negotiations made an assurance that he would not sign the Hauraki Settlements until all issues currently in dispute are resolved.

This assurance has provided us an opportunity to attempt to resolve issues directly with Hauraki iwi.

An initial hui between Tauranga Moana and Hauraki representatives was held on Wednesday 9 August 2017.

A Hui a Iwi is called for Wednesday 16 August 2017, 10am at Whareroa Marae to provide an update on the initial hui and to confirm the approach moving forward.

Te Rangihouhiri began his journey from Whāngārā to Hakurānui to Whakapau Kōrero to Pōporohuamea where he died. Following his death and after many significant battles, his descendants who became known as Ngāi Te Rangi settled in Tauranga Moana.
